Mr. Silas Monroe Furr Jr., 59, of 430 Sharview Cir. died Aug. 12, 1987, at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Hankins, Whittington & Williams-Dearborn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mr. Furr, a native of Cabarrus County, was a retired truck driver for Winn-Dixie food stores. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors are his son, Roger Furr; daughters, Mrs. Sissy Humphries; brothers, Charles Furr, Kenneth Furr, both of Virginia, Johnny Furr; sisters, Mrs. Betty Helms, Mrs. Ruby Green, Mrs. Shirley Helms, Mrs. Brenda Moore; half brothers, Luther Helms of Asheboro, Robert McGuirt; two grandchildren. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Hankins, Whittington & Williams-Dearborn.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, August 13, 1987
