Death
Fltzhugh Lee Furr, 66, retired pharmacist, of Tanglewood Drive, Louisburg died last Friday. Furr had lived for 23 years in Durham before moving to Louisburg with his wife several years ago. In recent years, he had worked part time in a local drug store. He was for years associated with the Upjohn Drug Company. He received his degree in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina. He also attended the University of Virginia. Furr was born in Montgomery County, N. C., son of the late John Robert Furr and Mary Jane McCloud of Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a mason, a Shriner, holding life membership in the local unit, a member of the Methodist Church where he had served as a steward, and a veteran of World War I. Funeral services were held last Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the White Funeral Home here and another service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clifton Falls, Va. Rev. Kelly Wilson, pastor of the Louisburg Methodist Church, conducted the Louisburg, services. Rev. J. A. Stephens and Mr. Ivan Ornfuff conducted the Virginia services held at the home of an aunt, Mrs. Milton B. Whlttlng. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Icye Lee Towney, two sisters, Mrs. Wesley York, Asheboro, and Mrs. Cliff Horne, Miami, Fla.; one brother, Alvin J. Furr of Statesvllle, N. C.; two nieces and one nephew. Local pallbearers were: Dr. J. B. Wheliss, John Neal, Centervllle, and Mike Rowe.Endnotes
