Death
KANNAPOLIS — Willis James Furr, 85, of 501 Forest Ave., died at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 5, 1988, at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for three years and seriously ill for a week. The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Utley. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Born March 10, 1903, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Jim and Minnie Linker Furr. He was employed at Cannon Mills, Plant 1, in the roller shop for 63 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. His wife, Myrtle Marlow Furr, died July 26, 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Fain of the home and Mrs. Boyce (Peggy) Hunter Concord; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Endnotes
