KANNAPOLIS — The funeral for Geraldine Furr Yates Fain will be at 2 pm. Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Hoke Ritchie. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Memorials may be made to L.LF.E. Genter, Central United Methodist Church, 30 Union St. North, Concord, N.C. 28025. Born Sept. 23, 1926, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Fain was a daughter of the late Willis J. “Bill" and Myrtle Marlowe Furr. She retired in 1980 from Cannon Mills Co Plant 1, weave room 6, where she had worked for about 25 years. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the L.LF.E. Center of Central United Methodist Church, Concord. Survivors include two sons, Donnie Lee Yates of Mount Pleasant and D James Yates Jr of Kannapolis; a daughter, Holly Yates Hahn of Mount Pleasant. a sister, Peggy Furr Hunter of Concord, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Fain, 63, of 501 Forrest Ave., died at 6 Wednesday, Aug. 15, 1990, at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord. She had been in declining health 10 years.Endnotes
