Death
Funeral services were held Sunday for W. A. FURR, age 65, long time county resident, at the Presbyterian church in Stringtown, with Bro. W. H. GOSS officiating. Interment was in the Stringtown cemetery. Furr died peacefully at his home in Stringtown Saturday night after a long illness following a heart attack on Thanksgiving day from which he never fully recovered. WILLIAM ALBERT FURR was born at Wabaseka, Arkansas, on April 25, 1875, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. FURR, and moved to Stockdale, Texas, where he grew to manhood. He returned to Arkansas in 1902 and married Miss CORA LEE WHITE of Buena Vista in the same year. After living at Medina, Texas for years, the family came to Fort Towson, Oklahoma and moved to Stringtown in 1919 where Furr engaged in the filling station and was justice of the peace for years. He held three Masonic degrees and was accorded a Masonic funeral. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cora Furr; two sons, CECIL and ALBERT; three daughters, Mrs. GRACE KELLOGG of Daisy, Mrs. RUTH LOGAN and Mrs. FRANCES ROBERTS, both of Stringtown; three brothers, WALTER FURR of Menard, Texas, GEORGE FURR of Seiling, Okla., and SAMUEL FURR of Stockdale, Texas; and a sister Mrs. J. R. JOHNSTON of Medina, Texas; six grandchildren, GUY jr., BILLY G. and JIMMY, sons of Mrs. Guy Kellogg of Daisy, BETTY LOU, daughter of Mrs. DENTON LOGAN of Stringtown, and MARY FRANCES and JOAN, daughters of Mrs. Frances Roberts. FRED WHITE of Hugo and JEWEL WHITE of Daisy, brothers of Mrs. Furr, attended the funeral. Mrs. K. G. ISRAEL of Offerle, Kansas and Mrs. JOHN HEILLAND of Tulsa were unable to attend the services.Endnotes
