Death

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for Isaac L. “Ike” Furr, Jr., 71, of Hattiesburg, who died June 8, 1998, at Forrest General Hospital. Dr. Russell Bush will officiate. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be B.J. Aultman, Walter Lee, Lewis Vittetoe, H.O. Jackson, L.J. Stringer, and George Beard. Mr. Furr was a native of Kentwood, La. He had lived in Hattiesburg since 1928 where he retired as an electrical engineer after 35 years at Hercules. He was a former member of the City of Hattiesburg’s Electrical Review Board and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where he was past chairman of the Deacons, a Sunday School and Church Training teacher, and a member of the Hut Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his son, Isaac L. “Ike” Furr III. Survivors include his wife, Dot Furr of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Rita Furr and Janet Furr White, both of Hattiesburg; two sons, James Furr and Mike Furr, both of Hattiesburg; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
