Death
OAKBORO — Eli Newell Furr 70, of Route 1 died this morning at Stanly County Hospital. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mineral Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Rev Eddie McCurme. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Born June 10 1910, in Stanly County, Mr Furr was a son of the late Charles H and Rosa Hopkins Furr. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was a retired painter. His wife, Vick Barbee Furr, preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Furr of the home, two brothers, Reece and Leonard Furr both of Rt 1, Oakboro, three sisters Mrs Pear! Austin, Mrs Cebron Coble and Mrs Curtis Tucker all of Rt 1 Oakboro.Endnotes
