Death
Mrs. Rosa Hopkins Furr, 81, of Route 1, Oakboro, died around 7 a.m. Monday in the Stanly County Hospital after a week of serious illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Truett Rogers, assisted by Elder Cliff Allen. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken Tuesday at 4 p.m. from Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle to the Furr home to remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the rites. Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late John Allen and Mary Smith Hopkins of Stanly, County. Her husband, Charlie H. Furr, survives, along with three sons, Newell, Reece and Leonard, all of Route 1, Oakboro; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Austin, Mrs. Cebron Coble and Mrs. Curtis Tucker, all of Route 1, Oakboro; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James B. Hopkins of Oakboro and Eli Hopkins of Stanfield.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, July 13, 1965
