Death
Marshall Monroe “Pete” Furr, age 67, beloved husband, father, brother, Paw Paw and friend, passed away Monday March 5, 2007 after a long illness. He was born May 15, 1939, in Albemarle to the late Daniel Monroe Furr and the late Pauline Sheperd. Pete was a locksmith for 32 years and owned All-Safe and Lock Company. He enjoyed fishing and taking his boat out on local lakes. He also enjoyed his excursions to the coast and deep sea fishing. He was a member of McLean Road Baptist Church in Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Furr, his parents, his brothers, Carroll Furr and Walter Ray Furr. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Ann Whitley Furr, who provided loving care during his illness. He is also survived by his children, Lori Furr Roberts, Marshall Dale Furr, Lisa Furr Ward and her husband, Scott. His grandchildren, whom he loved very much, included Marshall and Kinslee Furr, Daniel and Holly Roberts, Chase and Brock Ward and Tyler Furr. Brothers Jim Sheperd of Albemarle, Roger Furr and his wife, Janice, of Concord, Darrell Furr and his wife, Vicki, of Albemarle, sister Maxine Sexton and her husband, Ronnie, of Concord; his long-time friend, John Cooper, and many, many friends also survive. The family would like to give special thanks for the wonderful care of Dr. Selwyn Spangenthal and the Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, McEwen-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Oakboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.The Stanly News and Press, Stanly County, North Carolina, March 7, 2007
