Death
Roger Daniel Furr, 78, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at his home. Roger was born July 12, 1945, in North Carolina to the late Daniel Monroe Furr and the late Lela Pauline Shepherd Furr Davenport. He was also preceded in death by stepfather, James Edward Davenport, brothers, Larry "Jim" Keith Shepherd, Marshall "Pete" Monroe Furr, Joseph Carroll Furr, and Walter Ray Furr. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. - 1:45 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at the Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 22182 Canton Rd., Albemarle. Survivors include wife of 57 years, Janice Furr of the home; sons Roger Wayne (Margaret) Furr and Richard Carroll (Tiffany) Furr; grandchildren Daniel, Rebekah, Mercedes, Aspen, Sydney and Seth; great-granddaughter Avie Hazel Furr; brother Darrell Furr; and sister Lela Maxine Sexton. Roger drove a Coca-Cola truck for 10 years, then was a locksmith for 25 years, and the last 10 years before retiring he worked in construction for his son. Roger was an avid motorcycle driver - driving as far as California and back and to the bike rallies in Daytona Beach numerous times with his close friends. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Furr family.Endnotes
