Death
SOUTHPORT -- Estelle Ella Swain, 98, of Southport died Monday, August 25, 2009. Mrs. Swain was born July 10, 1911, in Concord, North Carolina the daughter of the late Aaron Furr and Joella Kimary Furr. Mrs. Swain was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Swain and infant son Leroy Swain, Jr. Mrs. Swain was a member of Southport Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include two sons James Swain and wife Joann of Winston Salem, and Jerry Swain and wife Melissa of Port St. Lucie, Florida; grandchildren Terri Ziglar of Winston-Salem, Ashley Downey and husband Michael of Westfield, New Jersey, Michael Swain and wife Vicki of Jacksonville, Florida; great grandchildren Matthew Downey and Nathaniel Downey of New Jersey, Lena Granger and husband Lee of Wilmington, Trey Mock of Holly Ridge, North Carolina; great-great-grandchild Haley Granger of Wilmington. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service with Dr. Foyd Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Friday evening at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service, Southport.Wilmington Star-News, August 27, 2009
