Death
Martha Jane Yow, 79, of Route 2, Stanfield, died Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Stanly County Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Love’s Grove Methodist Church of which she was a member. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Rev. R. E. Sides, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. John Connell. Daughter of the late Hoke and Maggie Crayton Furr, she was married to George Washington Yow who preceded her in death. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Maggie Whitley and Mrs. Jack Burnette of Stanfield, Mrs. Claude Kiker of Salisbury, Mrs. Bill Jessup of Greensboro and Mrs. Judge Stegall of Indian Trail; four sons, Jack of Albemarle, Ernest of Midland, John of Stanfield, and Marvin of Concord; 35 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; one brother, Baxter Furr of Stanfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Lester Furr of Stanfield, Mrs. John Lee Furr of Midland Mrs. Jonah Taylor of Locust.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, January 14, 1966
