Death
William Houston Furr, 39, former, resident of Route 1, Stanfield and a U. S. Civil Service employee, died suddenly Saturday, April 23, in Naha, Okinawa, where he was stationed on a job with the U. S. government. His body arrived at the Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle this week. Funeral services were scheduled to be held Thursday at, 4:30 p.m. at the Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church near Locust. Elder C. M. Mills and Rev. Johnny Morton were scheduled to officiate and burial was to be in the church cemetery. The body remained at the home of a brother, Jackson A. Furr of Stanfield, from 4 p.m. Wednesday until taken to the church for the rites. Mr. Furr was engaged in Civil Service work with the government for a number of years. At the time of his death, he was supervisor of engineering activities at the U. S. Army Hospital at Camp Que, Okinawa. He lived at Naha, Okinawa, and was a member of the Naha Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mitsu Kay Furr; nine children whose names were not available here; four brothers, Walter D. Furr of Concord, Charlie L. and Jackson A. Furr of Stanfield, and Silas M. Furr of Charlotte; and five sisters, Mrs. Adam Huneycutt and Mrs. Noah Fink of Stanfield, Mrs. Winfred B. Simpson of Locust, Mrs. Edward Furr of Albemarle, and Mrs. Henry Furr of Harrisburg. Mr. Furr was born August 23, 1920, son of the late Adam L. and Flora E.
