Death
Mrs. Mildred Furr McCoy, age 64, of 2200 Commonwealth Avenue, Charlotte, died Tuesday morning, February 1, 1983, at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born February 20, 1918 in Stanly County, NC, daughter of the late Dock Franklin and Laura Love Furr. Funeral services for Mrs. McCoy will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in Central United Methodist Church on Albemarle Road, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Joel Key and the Rev. Frank Marks. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Surviving are her husband, Mr. P. C. McCoy; one son, Phil McCoy of Charlotte; three brothers, Robert Furr of Harrisburg, Worth Furr of Stanfield and Spencer Furr of Matthews; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lyerly and Mrs. Lucy Spong, both of Concord, Mrs. Frances Hathcock of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Sharon and Angela McCoy. Pallbearers will be Don Hathcock, Larry Furr, Boyd Lyerly, Vernon Huneycutt, Edd Giluman and Lewis Ray McCoy. The family ask that memorials be sent to Central United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6030 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, 28212. Mrs. McCoy’s body will be taken from Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, to McEwen Funeral Home on Morehead Street, where the family will receive from 7 until 9 Wednesday night, and will remain there until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
