Death
Lucy Mae Furr Spong, 86, of 304 Misenheimer Dr. N.W., Concord, died on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at 10:05 a.m. NorthEast Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Dr. Kinney Wallace will officiate. Visitation is today from 7 to 9 p.m. Born Sept. 7, 1912, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late D.F. Furr and the late Laura Alice Love Furr. She was a retired weaver at Cannon Mills Co., plant number 6 and a member of Love’s Chapel United Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late William Spong, who died in 1963. She is survived by a brother, Worth Furr, of Stanfield; and four nephews. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Locust Elevator Fund, 329 S. Central Ave., Locust, N.C. 29097.
