Death
Owen Lee “Bootie” Furr, 92, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2023. Owen was born in Danville, VA, to the late Robert Franklin Furr and Della Angeline Hardy Furr. Owen is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Deborah Furr Marshall, three brothers Thomas, Robert, and Franklin Furr, and two sisters Virginia Coleman and Doris Furr. Owen is survived by his wife of 71 years Ezetta Jolly Furr, two daughters Karen F. Perkins, and Anita Riley (Fred), one son Allen Furr (Donna), a sister Frances Cook (Bill), a brother Freddy Furr (Peggy), eleven grandchildren Jennifer Perkins, David Furr (Lisa), Robert Perkins (Emily), Nicole Sigmon (Travis), Crystal Lamonds (Mark), Christina Marshall, Ryan Perkins (Ashley), Ashley Bringer (Chris), Heather Marshall (Joe), Tyler Furr (Stacy), Jonathan Marshall, nineteen great-grandchildren, Maia, TJ, Tehya, Chloe, Melody, Katelynn, Aiden, Coraline, Breanna, Madeline, Brynn, Christian, Leah, Joshua, Jade, Anna, Wylie, Owen, and Jaxson, one great-great grandchild Leilani, and numerous nieces and nephews. Owen grew up in Danville, VA where he met his wife Ezetta, while working at Dan River Mills, after his military service he and his wife moved to Charlottesville, VA, where he retired from the University of Virginia. Owen had a great sense of humor, he lived a simple life, hearing his grandchildren giggle when he wiggled his ears. He had a green thumb when working in his garden, he and his wife loved to camp, and loved to travel to different states. Bootie’s family will have visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 31, 2023, at Teague Funeral Service 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA, also from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at Teague officiated by Roger Browning, Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Holly Memorial Gardens.Endnotes
