Death
Howard Ernest Furr Sr., 72, of 407 Locust St., died at 7:40 a. m. Sunday at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital after being hospitalized two weeks. Funeral services will be held at 4 p. m. Tuesday in the chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home by Rev. Coy C. Privette and Rev. Virgil Hailey. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The body was to be placed in state at the funeral home at 2 p. m. today to remain until 30 minutes prior to the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p. m. today. A native of Cabarrus County, Mr. Furr was the son of the late Frank Furr and Mrs. Annie Fisher Furr. He was a Navy veteran of World War I and was employed at Cannon Mills, Plant 1, until his retirement in 1960. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Alice Troutman Furr; one son, Howard E. Furr Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. Annie Colleen Weaver of Kannapolis; one sister, Mrs. Beulah Cox of Lincolnton; three brothers, Walter Furr of Franklin, Roy Furr and Arthur Furr, both of Concord; and one grandchild.Independent Tribune, Concord, North Carolina, June 26, 1967
