Death
Longtime Pike County farm equipment dealer Scott Furr died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday in Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia following a lengthy illness. He was 67. Visitation in Hartman Funeral Home of McComb began Saturday night. Services will be 2:30 this afternoon in Hartman chapel with Dr. Farris Smith officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to First Baptist Church of Magnolia where he was a member. Born June 2, 1916, in Wesson, Mr. Furr was the son of Robert Dewitt and Johnnie Speed Furr. He owned and operated Scott Furr Equipment Co. south of Magnolia many years. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Eda Lehmann Furr; a daughter Mrs. Clifford W. (Carolyn) Hawk and two granddaughters, Charlotte and Susan Hawk of Slidell, La.; two brothers, Troy and Fred Furr, both of Brookhaven; four nieces and one nephew. Pallbearers will be Dr. Verner Holmes, Dr. Jack Nunnery, Melvin Starrett, Bobby Furr, Hilton Furr and Jimmy Lee Smith.Enterprise-Journal, McComb, Mississippi, July 3, 1983
