Death
Funeral services for W. H. Furr, 46 years old, of Catchings, a Sharkey county farmer who died in the Veterans Hospital at Memphis early yesterday afternoon following a three weeks illness, were to be held at 4 o’clock this afternoon from the Catchings Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Logan, Baptist pastor of Duncan. Bridal will be in the Catchings cemetery with National Funeral Home in charge. Born in Port Gilson, Mr. Furr came to the Delta 30 years ago. In World War I he was a member of the third division of the seventh infantry and served two years overseas with the American expeditionary forces. He was a member of the Rolling Fork post of the American Legion. He leaves his wife; two sons, W. H. Furr, Fort Benning, Ga., James H. Furr, Catchings; two daughters, Miss Dorothy Furr and Mrs. James H. Statford, Catchings; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Furr, Perry; three brothers, Hugh Furr, Perry D. Furr, Catchings; Sidney Furr, Greenville; and three sisters, Mrs. E. B. Jones Shreveport, La. Mrs. J. F. Bates and Mrs. A. G. At Veterans Administration Hospital, Monday afternoon May 4, 1942, at 12:45 o'clock, William H. Furr, aged 48 years; husband of Mrs. Willie Hicks Furr, father of William H. Jr. James and Dorothy Furr and Mrs. Frances Furr Stafford. Remains were sent from the funeral residence of J. T. Hinton and Son, 1160 Union Avenue, this (Tuesday) morning to Greenville, Miss., for services and interment.
