Death
Carl Rowan Furr, 88, of Aubum Drive, a retired business owner, died of pulmonary fibrosis Monday at his daughter's home. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson on High Street and at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Furr was a Lincoln County native of the Bahala community east of Wesson and was the son of a pioneer Mississippi family. He transferred to Jackson in 1944. He attended Wesson Public Schools and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. He operated a grocery and ice cream parlor on Terry Road for 20 years. He retired from Engineering Associates in 1991. He was a Baptist and a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was the widow of Mary Shivers Furr. Survivors include: son, Carl Ray Furr of Jackson; daughter, Sandra Furr Akins of Jackson; brother, Lester R. Furr of Wesson; sister, Margaret Lee of Jackson; and four grandchildren.
