Individual Details
Davidson FURR
(28 Sep 1834 - 11 Dec 1900)
His name is shown in the 1850 Stanly County Census as David and his occupation as laborer.
In the year 1860, Davidson is 25 and his wife Martha is 21. They have two sons, Ganes 3 yrs. and Wiley 3 months old. 1870 finds Davidson age 35 and wife Martha 31 farming in Stanly County. They now have 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls. The girls are Larceny age 6, Sarah 3, and Mary 1. The 1870 census list their eldest child as Jane, age 12 a daughter. This has to be an error because Ganes was the eldest child. He was sometimes called James and this is where the census taker misunderstood the name and wrote "Jane" in as a daughter. The 1900 census list Davidson and Martha living with their son Wiley and his children. His wife Vine had passed away and the parents helped with the house work and the raising of the children. Davidson died that same year, December 11, 1900 and was buried at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanly County.
