Individual Details

Wiley Kether FURR

(25 Jun 1860 - 9 Apr 1929)

In 1897 Wiley K. Furr and his wife Vine Whitley, daughter of George and Kisiah, lived in the Albermarle Township of Stanly County. Their seven children ranged in age from 15 to less than a year old. Sometime between 1897 and 1900 Vine passed away and, according to the 1900 census, Wileys parents, Davidson and Martha Furr move in with the family. (Probably to help raise the kids and keep house since the mother is dead.) On March 25, 1900, in Stanly County, Wiley married a 39 year old school teacher, Martha Lambert, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Lambert. She took on the job of motherhood and raised the children like they were her own. Wiley died April 9, 1929 and was buried in the Norwood cemetery. Martha died December 13, 1929 and was buried in the Bear Creek cemetery near her parents.
