Notes
Birth
The "Passenger List" of the ship SULLY indicates that he was 16 years old when his family arrived in New York on 27 Jul 1833.The 1880 Federal census of Donegal Twp, Westmoreland Co PA lists his parents and himself born in "Germany." That same census lists the parents of his brother Frederick as born in "Switzerland." Jacob's age is listed as 62.
Immigration
There are discrepancies in the date of his immigration. Clarence H. Rosenberger indicates that he "came to America [at] age 12." That would be about 1829.Mary Frances NEIDERHISER Allen indicates an immigration date of 1833 because Henry, born 1833 "was born on the Atlantic Ocean. The family crossed the Atlantic on ship [named] SULA, thus his [given] name was Henry Sula."
Paul Neiderhiser indicates the date of 22 July 1833 for the family's arrival in New York. The "Passenger List" of the ship Sully is dated 27 July 1833.

Don Neiderhiser reports: "Jacob settled just off Jones mill run Rd. [sic] in Jefferson Twp. Pa. He later moved to Donegal Twp. Westmoreland Co. Jacob's son Samuel stayed in Jefferson Twp." He does not include the dates of these moves.Marriage
