Jobe CALLAWAY was born in the year 1768 in Anson County, North Carolina, and died 29 NOV 1865 in Weogufka, Coosa County, Alabama. He was buried in Weogulfka First Baptist Church Cemetery, Weogufka, Coosa County, Alabama. He married Mary Polly MILNER 4 JUN 1796 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, daughter of John MILNER , Capt. and Elizabeth GODWIN. She was born 1771 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, and died 1849 in Autauga County, Alabama. He married Tabitha LAWRENCE ABT 1806 in Wilkes County, Georgia. She was born in 1784, and died in 1821 in Putnam Co., GA. He married Matilda PAIGE 20 DEC 1850 in Shelby County, Alabama. She was born ABT 1800.

13 Apr 1887 and again on, 4 Jul 1889. Mrs. Mary A. Popwell applied for pension in Chilton Co, AL, on James Popwell's Civil War Service. He was a Private, Company A, 12th Alabama. She made her mark on the application. There was a change in the law and she applied again on 6 May 1891, 3 Mar 1892, and 27 Feb 1894 - this application notes that his death was from disease contracted in the service and his death occurred during the war.
