Individual Details
Margaret DONAHUE
(Abt 1828 - See Notes)
Age 27 on 1855 New York State Census -- Salina, Onondaga Co., New York.
Died in the late 1850's. Mary BUSH RABOIN's obituary stated that her mother died at the time of her birth. More likely, she died shortly after Edward's birth. I had thought she died in Salina, but a researcher from that area could find no record of her burial from any of the local churches or the then-existing cemeteries. He checked St. Joseph's, old St. Mary's and Rose Hill -- nothing. Perhaps the family moved back to Québec before her death. I'v been unable to find a record.
The above-mentioned researcher (a very helpful but anonymous-by-choice gentleman from the St. John the Baptist Rectory) also looked in vain for baptismal records for any of Joseph and Margaret's children. Several of the children were presumably born and baptized in Liverpool, but where? While it was a long trip to St. John's by wagon, many others were doing it. Still unable to find their birth records. This researcher did find the marriage record for Joseph and Margaret, however.

Notes
Marriage
Marriage information obtained, by correspondence, from the rectory of St. John the Baptist Church. Joseph Boucher married Margarita Donoghue on 18 April 1844. Witnesses were John Renaud and Francesca Eddy.Census (family)
Enumerated with this family were Joseph Bush, age 34; his wife, Margaret, age 27; and children: Margaret, age 10; Henry, age 8; James, age 6; George, age 3; and Mary, age 1. Also in this home, but listed as a separate family were James Donahue, age 61, a widower; and his sons: Thomas Donahue, age 33; and James Donahue, age 22.The house was a frame one, valued at $150 -- quite low compared to others on the page. It states that Joseph had been in the state for four years, and that Margaret had been there for sixteen years. This latter is somewhat confusing. She was certainly up in Quebec for a few recent years, as two of her children were born there. Does the sixteen years ignore that absence, and mean that she immigrated in 1839? (This "serial migration," in which family members came one or two at a time, was common with the Irish.) Or did she come with her father, who had been there for 21 years? In that case, she probably spent five of her married years in Quebec, and the enumerator simply subtracted that from the twenty-one.
