Obituary of John E. Hosier from The Humboldt Times, Tuesday June 16, 1942. John E. Hosier Dies at Fortuna. John Edward Hosier, 82 years old and a resident of Humboldt for 63 years, died Sunday at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hosier of Fortuna. Hosier was born in Missouri but came to Humboldt as a young man. He was station agent at Fortuna for some time, and managed a store at Blocksburg for a number of years. He also was employed as a clerk at Folsom prison for four years. Hosier was a member of Eel River Lodge, F. & A. M., and also belonged to the Odd Fellows order. He recently received a 30 year membership pin from the Odd Fellows. In addition to his son, Kenneth Hosier, he is survived by two grandsons, Kenneth Hosier, Jr. of Fortuna and Kenneth D. White of the U. S. Navy. Funeral services will be held in the Hunter & Wise chapel at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Huffman Hurley officiating. Masonic burial services will be conducted at the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Eureka.
