On the 1860 U. S. Census of Washington, Monroe Co., Missouri, A. P. Hosier appears with his wife Alvira and children Mary M. age 11, Alice age 4, George W. age 2 and John 3/12. Everyone was born in New York with the exception of A. P. who was born in Pennsylvania and John born in Missouri. A. P. is a farmer.
He enlisted at Thornapple, Barry County, Michigan, Company C, 21st. Michigan Infantry in the Civil War. Pensioned.
On the 1870 U. S. Census of Macon, Macon Co., Missouri, A. P. is indexed as Hasia not Hosier. The family is his wife Alvira, and children George, John, Lotta, William and Franklin.
The family is on the 1880 United States Census at Kirwin, Phillips Co., Kansas page 114A: Ansel B. Hosier, age 50 born PA; Ovire [sp] wife, age 48 born PA; John E. son, age 20 born MO; Lottie, daughter, age 15 born MI; William, son, age 13 born MO and Frank, son, age 11, born MO.

Answered yes to honorably discharged from Michigan Company C, 21st, regiment, infantry. To the question, Name of Prison in which confined as a prisoner of war, if any, it states Castle Thunder.
Obituary from the Washington Register, February 8, 1895: O.P. Hosier died at his home in the city on Tuesday morning last, February 5th, 1895, after a lingering illness, at the age of 65 years. He will be buried by the G. A. R. Post---of which he has been Chaplin for a number of years---from the M.E. church, Rev. Becher officiating. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss.
