James B. Kirkpatrick was born 17 August 1862 in Macomb, McDonough Co., Illinois. He died 12 August 1935. He married Agnes Sjolin or Sheline, who was born 14 March 1859 in Sweden, and died 28 January 1941 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri. James was a railroad man, who worked forty-eight years for the St. Louis & San Francisco Railway.

Kirkpatrick, 72 years old of 4107 Kenwood boulevard died at St. Mary's hospital. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Agnes Kirkpatrick of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Johnston, 5335 Ward parkway, wife of the president of the Kansas City Southern Railway, and a son, V. V. Kirkpatrick, 602 Greenway terrace. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Freeman chapel, Forty-second street and Baltimore avenue. Burial will be in Memorial park cemetery.
