Emil "Shorty" Neuman

Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, Friday, May 28, 1965, Page 2, Col. 7 & 8: Emil W. (Shorty) Neuman, 61, of 726 Dundee Ave., died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Scholtz Memorial Hospital of carcinoma. He had resided in this community since 1939 and previously lived in Oelwein.
He was born Sept. 26, 1903, at Slatten, Germany, the son of Gust and Ida Kundy Neuman. On Sept. 23, 1938, he married Nancy Jane Dudley in Oelwein. He was employed as a machinist at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 28 years.
Survivors include his widow; three sons, the Rev. J. Joe of Zenia, Calif., John, 924 Kern St., James, 115 Wycombe St.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Mueller, 629 Ansborough Ave.; Mrs. Olive Hippen, 117 Courlandt St.; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ida Neuman of Oelwein; three brothers, Fred and Albert of Oelwein, Walter of La Porte City, and three sisters, Mrs. Marshall Kraft, Fairbank, Mrs. William Reisner , Oelwein, and Mrs. Harold Hake, Lake Mills, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, one sister and two grandchildren.
He was a member of the Central Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 764.
Those wishing to may give memorials to the Central Christian Church building fund. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Memories West. Funeral services are being planned for 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Leo G. Potter, Pastor of Central Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.
