(18 Oct 1831 - 30 Mar 1914)
Elizabeth was born 18 October 1831 in the town of Mifflin, Wisconsin. On 9 October 1850 she married Jesse (Sneeth or Smith) Jones, Sr., who was born in Orange Co., New York, 21 December 1823. He died 14 March 1910. Elizabeth died 31 March 1914.
Jones was the son of Anthony and Dorothy Jones, one of nine children. He came to Wisconsin in 1847, settled in Iowa County, farming and mining until 1850. In that year he settled at New California, Grant Co., Wisconsin (now a ghost town) and engaged in the real estate business. Later he became a merchant and then turned again to the lead mines where he had interests in both Iowa and Grant Counties, Wisconsin. In Buchanan's administration he was appointed postmaster of New California and was also town clerk for a number of years. Subsequently he served as a county board member and county treasurer. In 1866 he sold his other interests and bought a farm near Platteville and engaged in breeding fancy blooded horses and cattle. He also owned and operated a dairy. He was a Republican in his politics. Both he and his wife were Congregationalists. Both are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, Wisconsin.
There were five children born of the marriage.
