Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, June 23rd, at the Olesen Funeral Home for Francis Henry Cumpston, 65, who died at the Memorial Hospital Tuesday, June 17, following a stroke suffered on Monday. Mr. Cumpston was born in Wymore, Nebraska on December 19, 1892, and had been a resident of the Gothenburg community for many years. Rev. Lawrence W. Bratt, pastor of the Gothenburg Methodist church officiated at the service. Mrs. Frank Schwanz sang, "Nearer My God To Thee" and "No Night There," she was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Hiddie Kuhlman. Serving as pallbearers were: William, Heidebrank, Frank Murray, Wm. Rine, Ralph Franzen, Jack Kelly and Albert Brinkhous. Burial was in the Grand View Cemetery.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Brixius, and Mrs. Howat of Gothenburg, Mrs. Nick Prato of Baltimore, Maryland and Mrs. Luther Miller of Eudora, Kansas; five sons: Francis of Lexington, Leonard of Washington, D. C. , Harold of Gothenburg, Donald of Kearney, and James with the Navy in the South Pacific; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. John Geer and Mrs. Roy Donahue of Lincoln; six brothers, John, Howard, George, Clarence of California, August of Arnold, and Oscar of Gothenburg.
