Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Monday, July 17, 1972, Page 7: John Chronister, 79 of Fisk died here Saturday in the Veterans Administration Hospital. Mr. Chronister was born June 29, 1893, in Butler County. He was married to Lattie Potillo in Corning, Ark., 1929. He had lived at Rt. 1, Fisk, for 39 years, was a retired farmer and World War I veteran. He attended the Hamtown Community Church. Surviving are his wife; six sons, Richard Chronister of Oklahoma City, Norman Chronister of St. Joseph, Mo., Glenn Chronister of Princeton, Ky., Carroll Chronister of Poplar Bluff, Hurschel Smith of Eugene, Ore., and Eugene Smith of Yakima, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. James East of Paducah, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 this afternoon at the Rombauer Union Church officiated by the Rev. James Duncan and the Rev. Ivan Risinger. Burial will be in the Hamtown Cemetery and services are directed by the White Funeral Home, Fisk.
