Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, April 27, 1955, Page 2, Col. 1: S. A. Chronister Died Early Today, Ill about a Year. Stephen Anderson Chronister, retired stationary engine fireman for the Missouri Pacific railroad, died at 4:30 this morning at the Lucy Lee Hospital after illness of about a year. He had resided in the county all of his 70 years. His home was at 717 North Tenth. Mr. Chronister was born Sept. 12, 1884, near Drum, Bollinger County. He was married to Maude E. Morrison about 35 years ago, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He leaves his widow and the following children: Lee Chronister of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Muriel Steward of Poplar Bluff and Glenn Chronister of Rochester, Minn., and 11 grandchildren, a brother, John Chronister, resides at Fisk and a sister, Mrs. Leona Morris, lives at Paducah, Ky. Funeral services will be at 2 Friday afternoon at the Frank-Cotrell funeral chapel with the Rev. Fred Jones in charge. He will be assisted by the Rev. Wm. S. Smelser. Members of the Masonic order will conduct graveside services.
