Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Friday, July 23, 1976, Page 18, Cols. 3 & 4: Everett Lewis, 59, of Sesser, a radio dispatcher for the Franklin County Sheriff's department, died Thursday, July 22, 1976, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Lewis had been employed by the department since 1971. Prior to that, he had been employed by the Secretary of State as a driver's license examiner. He was born Aug. 4, 1916, in Franklin County to Thurman and Verna Graham Lewis. He married hazel Klinker, Aug. 19, 1940. He was a member of the Hazel Dell Baptist Church near Sesser.

Survivors are his wife; his parents of Sesser; two sons, William and Ernest, both of Sesser; two daughters, Verna Mae Woodland of Sesser and Enola Joplin of Benton; a sister, Ailene Veach of Marion, Ind.; four brothers, Darrell and Harl Ray, both of Benton, Leslie of Marion, Ind., and Kenneth of rural Pinckneyville; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hazel Dell Baptist Church, near Sesser. Burial will be in the Horse Prairie Cemetery, also near Sesser. Friends may all after 5 p.m. Saturday at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser.
