Posted at findagrave.com Benton Evening News, Benton, Illinois, April 19, 2011.Benton, Ill.---Floyd Darrel Lewis, 89, of Benton passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Sammy Simmons and the Rev. Harl Ray Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Horse Prairie Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Morton & Johnston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 18, 1922, in Sesser, the son of Thurman C. and Verna (Graham) Lewis. He married Evadine Veach on Nov. 15, 1942, in St. Louis, and she survives.
Mr. Lewis was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He retired from C.I.P.S. after 40 years of service. Mr. Lewis was a 65-year member of the I.B.E.W. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Evadine Lewis of Benton; a son, Farrel L. Lewis and wife Linda of Benton; a daughter, Linda E. Bogard of Oldsmar, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister Aileen Morris of Marion, Ind.; and three brothers, Leslie Lewis and wife Katherine of Marion, Ind., Kenneth Lewis and wife Vivian of Sesser, and Harl Ray Lewis and wife Ruth Ann of Valier. His parents; twin brother, Lloyd Farrel Lewis; a brother, Everett Lewis; and a sister, Mabel Cockrum, preceded Mr. Lewis in death.
