Carbondale Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Sunday, June 11, 1972, Page 31, Col. 5: Funeral services for Mable Cockrum, 59, Sesser, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Horse Prairie Church, near Sesser. The Rev. Wayne Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Brayfield Funeral Home, Sesser, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cockrum died Friday morning in the Franklin Hospital, Benton. She had been ill several months. She was born Aug. 3, 1912 in Franklin County, the daughter of Thurman and Verna Graham Lewis. She and her husband, Howard, had been married 39 years.
She is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Lewis of Sesser; a daughter, Mary Ellen Clark of Sesser ; four grandchildren; a sister, Aliene Veach of Marion, Ind.; and five brothers, Everett Lewis of Sesser, Darrell and Harl Lewis both of Benton, Leslie Lewis of Marion, Ind., and Kenneth Lewis of Pinckneyville.
