Mary Ellen Rowland

Flatten, May 2003, Updated June 2012, Page 110: Mary Ellen Rowland was born in Wappalo county, Iowa, May 6, 1880 [1860] and departed this life November 17,, 1935, at the age of 75 years, months and 11 days. At the age of 1`3 years she came with her parents to Saline county, Nebraska, where they lived for ten years. In 1877 she was united in marriage to Albert Clary. To this union one daughter was born. Death took the husband and father from the home and in January 1882, she was united in marriage to Bige Lamb. To this union were born two daughters and one son. In 1883 the family moved to Dawson county and settled on a homestead near Willow Island, where they have lived until the present. In 1890, while Rev. M. T. Maze was pastor, Mrs. Lamb united with the Cozad Evangelical Church of which she remained a member until her death. She was a faithful christian a friend to all who knew her, a devoted wife and a loving sacrificing mother. She was held in highest esteem by all her friends and neighbors. Under the kindest providences of God she and her husband were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding in 1932. She leaves to mourn her departing her husband Bige Lamb, three daughters, Mrs. Chas Thomason of Kinball, Mrs. Jay Kingsley and Mrs. Guy Curtice, both of Cozad; one son Vollard Lamb of Willow Island; two brothers, Albert Anderson of Gothenburg and John Rowland of Olney Springs, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Emma Applegate of Cozad; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. F.A. Lenz pastor of the Evangelical church in charge. Burial was in the Grandview cemetery.
