Hope St., Du Quoin, died Monday at the Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro. He had been in the nursing home for four months. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a member of the Du Quoin First Christian Church.
He was born Aug. 18, 1885, in Franklin County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Kirkpatrick. He was married in 1909 to the former Cora Allen. He later married the former Florence Viola Swallers, who preceded him in death. He re-married Cora Kirkpatrick Sept. 30, 1952. She survives.
He leaves sons, Andrew Kirkpatrick, Decatur, James Kirkpatrick, Dowell; brothers, Thomas and Harley, both of Christopher; sisters, Mrs. Mary Burkett and Mrs. Barney Renfro, both of Mulkeytown, and Mrs. Elsie Hawkins, Fairfield; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 6:30 p.m. today at the Schroeder Funeral Home Du Quoin. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial in the Mulkeytown Cemetery.
An infant daughter and a brother, Lee, preceded Mr. Kirkpatrick in death.
