Frankfort Area Newspaper, August 26, 1971: Mrs. Mary Burkitt Dies in Christopher. Mrs. Mary Burkitt, 93, of Mulkeytown, died Tuesday at Miners Hospital in Christopher. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, she was a member of the Mulkeytown Christian Church and the Royal Neighbors, Mulkeytown Camp 2975. Mrs. Burkitt was the widow of Orlen Burkitt. She is survived by a brother and two sisters: Harley Kirkpatrick, Christopher; Mrs. Anna Rentfro, Mulkeytown and Mrs. Elsie Hocking, Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with the Reverend Eugene Fox officiating. Interment will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
