Manchester, Ia.---Special: Funeral services were held at the Shelly Funeral Home here Friday afternoon for Marshall A. ("Happy") Candler, 50, a day laborer who died Wednesday night at his home after an extended illness.
The services were in charge of the Rev. Thomas P. Shaffer, pastor of the local Methodist Church. Burial was in the cemetery west of Coggon. Mr. Candler was born near Coggon on Sept. 9, 1890, and he came to Manchester and was married April 23, 1913, to Miss Bertha Noyes.
Survivors are his widow; four [five] daughters, Mrs. Boyd Warrington of Delhi, Marjory, Mrs. Andrew Wilson, and Mrs. Elvin Reth, all of Manchester, and Mrs. Jack Wiltsey of Cedar Rapdis; five sons, Arthur, Glen, Clifford, Charles and John, all of Manchester; three sisters, Mrs. Rilda Schroeder of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Charlotte Plummer in Oklahoma, and Mrs. C. D. Perry of Troy Mills; one brother, A. F. Candler of Cedar Rapids; and one step-son, Howard Candler. On son preceded him in death.
