John William Kirkpatrick Jr.

John William Kirkpatrick, Jr., known as "J. W.", was born 15 November 1885. He attended Washington and Lee and the University of Virginia, received his Law Degree from Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tennessee. J.W. owned several automobile agencies. J.W. died 6 December 1941 in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas.
On 4 November 1908 J.W. married Annie Noble Hill, who was born on 27 April 1889.
There were five (5) children born of the marriage.
On the 1930 U. S. Census of El Paso Co., Texas, J. W. Kirkpatrick appears with his wife Annie and children Noble, Virginia, Lila, Eugenia and Annie Laura. J. W. is an automobile salesman.

Kirkpatrick, pioneer El Paso businessman, died today at 10:10 a.m. at Southwestern General Hospital. He had been ill since Nov. 27 when he was stricken with a paralytic stroke at his home at 3131 Wheeling street. Mr. Kirkpatrick was 57. He established the first Ford agency in El Paso.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Peak-Hagedon Mortuary. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Ripley, Tenn. He attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., Lebanon Law Institute of Tennessee and received a degree in law at Cumberland University in Tennessee. He practiced law in his native state.
He established the first Ford automobile agency in Texas 30 years ago in El Paso. He owned the first Ford in Texas. He was a dealer in automobiles from 1910 to 1938 during which time he was active in civic organizations. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a leader in starting the Y.M.C.A. here and served a short time as county commissioner. He was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce. He served as president of the El Paso Automobile Dealers' Assn. and was one of 10 directors of the national association in 1935. He organized the El Paso Automobile Club in 1918.
In 1929 he became president of the board of the El Paso School for Girls, which became Radford School in 1931. Always a smiling to a good civic cause, Mr. Kirkpatrick saved the school from bankruptcy at one time and has since donated improvements for the school.
Hunter and Fisherman.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing but friends and relatives insist his greatest hobby was "making people happy." His more than 60 odd trophies of mountain lions, deer and other fame can be seen today hanging on the walls of the Tri-State Motor Co.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kirkpatrick was the father of one son and four daughters: Capt. Noble Kirkpatrick of the Eighth Cavalry at Ft. Bliss; Mrs. Dudley Jones of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Frank Neihaug of Los Angels [Angeles]; Mrs. Harvey Wallender Jr. of Port Arthur; and Miss Dena Kirkpatrick of El Paso. Other survivors include a brother, Scott Kirkpatrick of Little Rock, Ark.; four sisters: Mrs. B. A. Fararar of El Paso, Mrs. Laura Kinchloe of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Gordon Perry of Dallas; and Mrs. Louis McDaniel of Forest City, Ark.
