Corona Daily Independent, Corona, California, Tuesday, September 4, 1945, Page 1, Col. 5: Marshall Clayson Died Last Friday; Came Here in 1899. Former Merchant Had Been Ill for Years. Marshall E. Clayson, pioneer resident of Corona, died Friday at a Sanitarium near Azusa where he had been for several years in an effort to regain his health. The deceased was born Feb. 9, 1969, at Warsaw, Minn. He came to Corona in 1899 and for many years he was engaged in the dry good business. He also was superintendent of streets for several years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret R. Clayson of 1002 Belle Ave. and two sisters, Mrs. T. A. Fraser of Corona and Mrs. Dorothy MacDonald of Riverside, and two brothers, Dr. Frank H. Clayson of San Pedro and Atty. Walter S. Clayson of this city. The deceased had been active in Masonic circles for many years prior to his failing in health, having been Past Master of Temescal Lodge. Private funeral services will be held at Azusa Wednesday, with Rev. Daniel Hogan officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Corona.
