Riverside Daily Press, Riverside, California, Tuesday, June 28, 1927, Page 15: Funeral services Held Today For Mrs. W. S. Clayson. Corona, June 28--Funeral services for Mrs. W. S. Clayson, Sr., were conducted from Hoover chapel this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. R. F. Davis of the First Methodist church officiating. Mrs. Clayson's maiden name was Charlotte P. Horton, and she was a native of New York, being born at Gerry in that state April 8, 1852. Her parents migrated to Minnesota when she was yet a little girl. At Warsaw, Minn., she became the wife of W. S. Clayson, and the young couple located at Redwood Falls, and were numbered among the pioneers of that section of the state. In 1887 the Claysons came to California, but were dissatisfied and soon returned to Minnesota, and there the sixth child, Walter S. Clayson, now city attorney of Corona, was born. The family returned to California after an interval of 15 years, and have made their home here continuously since. W. S. Clayson, Sr., died in 1918. Mrs. Clayson is survived by the following children: Mrs. T. A. Fraser, Marshall E. Clayson and Walter Clayson, all of Corona; Mrs. Earl McDonald, Riverside, and Frank H. Clayson of San Pedro. Mrs. Morton [Mason]Terpening, another daughter, died in 1912 [1921]. Two brothers, Edwin R. Horton of Portland, Ore., and John Jenkins of Brawley, also survive Mrs. Clayson. Hers was a life of unselfish service and her passing is mourned by all who knew her.
