Individual Details
Margaret (Pearlie) M. J. MURPHY
(25 Sep 1902 - Abt 2004)
Pearlie attended Loreto convent school in Clonmel before studying for a teaching qualification in the north of England (possibly in Newcastle or Carlisle or both). She worked as a teacher in Croydon, Surrey before returning to live in Ireland.
I have been told Pearlie and her husband, Percy "weren’t rich, but on Sundays they believed they were. They both got dressed up in formal clothes and and went to very expensive restaurants - Percy in tropical gear that he’d kept from travels to warm countries and Pearl in chiffon dresses, hats and fur stoles from another era."
Pearlie died at the age of 102.
