Patrick (Paddy) Joseph MURPHY

Paddy attended Clonmel High School and then studied at a telegraphy college in England. Between 1918 and 1919 he served in the Merchant Navy before returning to Ireland where he worked for Michael Collins during the War of Independence (1919-1921). He later joined the Irish Free State Army. At the time of the marriage of his sister Pearlie in 1935, Paddy was a lieutenant based in the Curragh Camp in Co. Kildare. During World War II he worked in Shannon as a navigator/radio officer in the Irish Air Corps. He and his family later lived at 98 The Stiles Road, Clontarf, Dublin.
