Willard Wyse, 93, of Midland, died Friday, July 20, 2007 at MidMichigan Stratford Village. He was born Aug. 22, 1913 in Fulton County, Ohio to the late Albert and Abbiegail L. (Baer) Wyse. He married the former Erma Ruth Steckley on Sept. 20, 1936 in Pigeon. Mr. Wyse was employed by The Dow Chemical Co. in the scientific laboratory as a glass blower. From 1949 until 1976, he owned and operated Wyse Glass Specialties, where he retired from in 1978. He was a member of Our Redeemer Church, the Great Lakes Section of the Scientific Lab Glass Blowers, serving as chairman for two years, and the American Scientific Glass Blowers Society. Mr. Wyse is survived by his wife, Erma; sons and daughters-in-law Gilbert D. and Ardy Wyse of British Columbia, Canada, and Leland J. and Nancy Wyse of Midland; grandchildren Kevin Wyse, Jay Wyse, Heidi Ryan, Brad Wyse, and Patrick Wyse; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edwin, Daniel, Oscar, Monroe, Lester, Ray, Homer, Ora, and Lawrence Wyse; infant sister Ida Wyse; and grandson Jeffrey Wyse. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, July 24 at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Church, 889 Poseyville Road with Rev. Mark Burks officiating. Interment will follow in the Midland Cemetery. Members of Mr. Wyse's family will receive friends at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
