ARCHBOLD - Ivan L. "Sparks" Wyse, 79, of Archbold, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2006, at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1926, near Archbold, to Anna (Short) and Jesse Wyse, he married Martha Borton on April 10, 1955, and she survives. He worked for New York Mineral & Mining in Panama for two years, then while working for Miller Bros. Construction for 22 years, he lived in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky. For the past 25 years, he and his wife owned and operated S - W Alfalfa Mills, rural Archbold.
A member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Archbold, he served as a director of the Ohio Blenders Inc. and as president for one year of the American Alfalfa Processors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rex (and wife, Joy) Wyse of Talihini, Okla.; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Jan) Stevens of Archbold, Jill Wyse of West Unity, Mrs. Peter (Rachel) Grieser and Mrs. Joshua (Kasey) Grime, both of Archbold; 10 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three brothers, Dale (Geneva) Wyse of Archbold, Lester (Lynette) Wyse of Brattleboro, Vt. and John D. (Sharon) Wyse of Archbold; and two sisters, Janice Wyse of Glendale, Ariz. and Mrs. Sanford (Judy) Wyse of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce; and an infant daughter, Pamela. Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. in the Evangelical Mennonite Church.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastors Brad Bame and Charles Zimmerman to officiate. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.Short Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of the arrangements.Memorials may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service. http://www.bryantimes.com 1/30/2006
