Monroe B. Wyse, 94, Harrisonburg, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Wyse was born March 15, 1907, in Archbold, Ohio, and was a son of the late Albert and Abigail Baer Wyse.

In 1917, his family moved to Midland, Mich., where he attended school and church. In 1944, he moved to Scottsdale, Pa., where he was treasurer of the Mennonite Publishing House. He was controller at Eastern Mennonite College and later administrator at Menno-Haven Nursing and Retirement Community. He retired to Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

On April 30, 1929, he married the former Dora Short, who died Jan. 25, 1998.

He is survived by two sons, Paul Wyse, Waxhaw, N.C., and John Mark Wyse, Charlottesville; two daughters, Rosalie Derstine, Telford, Pa., and Grace Laffoon, Idywild, Calif.; two brothers, Willard Wyse and Ray Wyse, both of Midland, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The Revs. Randall Shull and Mike Derstine will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Weaver's Mennonite Cemetery near Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
