Nicholas Bressie, Bressy, or Brussey was born about 1681 in Albany, Albany County, New York, a son of Christophel (Christopher) and Styntje (Christeanna) Christina (Claesgen) or (CLAESJENS) BRESIE BRESEE; he married Catalyntje Hendricks Bont on August 17, 1706 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York; died after 1715 when his youngest child was born.
According to the "Bullard and Allied Families," by Edgar J. Bullard, "The ancestry of the Bressie family is Huguenot, and the name is found among the refugees who fled from France during the persecution of the Huguenots and sought haven among the Dutch in Holland."
