(Abt 1684 - )

See FHC film 1304637 "Contributions for the Genealogies of the First Settlers of the Ancient County of Albany, from 1630 to 1800" aka "Pearson's Albany Families" by Jonathan Pearson dated 1872 and based on records of the First Reform Dutch Church.

Posting on Gen Forum by Bruce Davis on 24 May 2005: "Gesia Bressy (Geesje Breesee/Gesia Bresie) was born about 1709 (best guess) and died May 03, 1777 at Copake, Columbia, NY. She is buried at the Copake Cem., Copake, Columbia, NY. She married Abraham Spoor about Oct 1732 (best guess). Their first child that I have is Johannes Spoor, baptised Mar 17, 1733/34 at Kinderhook, Columbia, NY, Reformed Church. Geesje is a daughter of Nicholas (Brusie/Bressy/Brussy/Brusy), born about 1682, Albany, NY, and Catelyntje Bont (Bond/Bout), baptised Apr 28, 1686 at Schenectady, Albany, NY. Nicholas, like Claartje above, is a child of Christopher Brussi and Christina Claesgens."

Posting on Gen Forum by Bruce Davis on 25 May 2005: "This has been a difficult area for me, and I am not the expert. Prior to the late 1600's, the Lambertses used the patronymic naming system for their children. If a father was named Lambert Hubertse, each of his children would be given a first name of the parents choosing, and a "second name" of "Lambertse" or "Lambertsen", meaning "child of Lambert". Hendrick Lambertse who married Geesje Jansen, in later years, adopted the surname of Bont/Bout/Bond, which carried on to his children. Others of the "Lambertse" clan adopted the surname Brink, which carried on to their children. Afterwards, families began to use the Dutch naming conventions, which are quite different.
I'm not sure any more, but it seems I remember that Bont was the name of a nearby town in the old country where the Lambertses came from. Hence, "Hendrick Lambertse of Bont" became "Hendrick Lambertse Bont" in this part of the family line. The "Brink" surname which shows up in other parts of this family line came from the town named "Dolderbrink" in the old country."
